Love stories

One of my hobbies is reading love stories. Every time that I have to go book shops, I always pass in pocketbooks sections. Sometimes, I will just ask permission from my companions to give me extra time so that I can choose and buy pocketbooks.

Why I am a sucker of pocketbooks? Maybe because I am always dreaming of a perfect love story which never happens in reality. Nowadays, most Filipino men are irresponsible and womanizer. They are just good in playing video games or musical instruments.

Thus, when I finish reading a good love story, it gives me a smile for the rest of the day.

The Cliff walk

I finished one of the books that I read today. This book told me the story of the author who belong to a middle class family in America. He was a professor in English, married with three children and currently his wife was pregnant when he received his pink slip. It was really a great blow to him because as a father, he was expected to provide the needs of his family. Unfortunately, due to the economic recession in America, he couldnt find any job which was the same with the previous one. As a result, he was depressed and his confidence hit the bottom. The story ended when he became a construction worker yet he was happy of it because he found the grace and dignity of that job.

When I finished this book, I began to relate it to the plight of workers in the Philippines. According to the new statistics there were 13.8 million people who are jobless. Today, some college graduates cannot find a job. I really wonder if the K+12 education system is applicable nowadays. Majority of the parents send their children to school to study so that someday they can find a job to support their living. But with this situation, is it important to extend the number of years just to study in a school?

I hope that our government made a good decision with this law.

A simple deed

I really had a bad week today. Aside from running in a taxi just to see the face of my longtime crush (hahaha!!), the sandal that my sister gave to me got broken. When I was about to ride in a jeepney, I felt something odd in my feet. There, I realized that the strap of my sandal was ripped. I just told the driver nicely to pull over the jeepney because I forgot something. When I removed my sandal to examine the strap, I could feel the hotness of the cemented road because it was already 12 noon. I havent been a stagy but it was really shameful to walk bare feet at Matina, one of the busiest road here in Davao. There I just asked the owner of the newspaper stand to let me borrow his slippers so that I could get another sandal at my boarding house. Since he has been my friend, he let me borrow his slipper without any doubt.

I just realize that a simple deed can be a great help to others.

Starbucks in Davao

When I am inside a mall like SM davao, I use to eat a lot of foods. I really love eating especially if the food looks good. However, this kind of practice would lead me to stomach ache.Hahaha..

Thanks to God, there is a newly opened Starbucks in SM Davao and Abreeza Mall that can help me in this kind of problem. Starbucks is a kind of restaurant that is offering coffee and some desserts. Coffee is a good laxative which means it causes one's stomach to exhibit wave-like movements which helps in emptying them. Thus, it can help us when we are constipated.

When my friend and I visited that place, the ambiance was really good. Sometimes, I wonder what makes a restaurant really have those kinds of atmosphere. Moreover, you could find people who have an average and above-average income dining in that restaurant. When I was young, I was not entering those kinds of places. Because of this I thought that price of one commodity would range from P300 to P500. But I was really shocked because the food ranged as cheap as P95 to P275. The waiters and waitress are also friendly and accommodating.

Madarin tea garden

My friend and I used to dine a lot of restaurants such as Mandarin Tea Garden. Well, I am not an avid fan of Chinese cuisine nowadays because of the recent escalation in Scarborough shoal. I think the incident is an insult to Philippine sovereignty.

However, my friend has a Chinese blood and he loves to eat noodles so we went in that Chinese restaurant. I was really shocked because there was a change in the physical appearance of the menu.Furthermore, the prices became more expensive than the old one. Before, I would feel satisfied if I ate P32 of siopao. But now, that kind of food was abolished replacing a much smaller siopao with a cheaper price. I also ordered chicken mami because I already tasted all the noodles in the menu but I felt gross when I ate it. As usual, I felt like vomiting inside the mall. I realized that siomai and ravioli were the most important ingredients of noodles soup.

One of my most awaited movie this year is Avengers. This movie talks about super humans form an alliance to defend the earth from Loki and his villains. For me, it is a must-see movie because it is an adventure. I bet some characters do have magical powers that people especially children (including me) will love it Hahaha..

Moreover here are the list of schedules in Gaisano mall of Davao.

Friday the 13th

Thirteen is consider as unlucky number by many people especially when it falls on Friday. It is often called Friday the 13th. According to some Christians, Judas, the one who betrayed Jesus, sat on the thirteenth table. Because of this, many people are not allowed to travel, propose or even open a business. The effects can either be accidents or failures.

However, a good news happened yesterday. The rocket launched by the North Korea headed by it's leader was crashed after one minute of take off. This was a good news for the Filipinos because there were many speculations that the second part of the rocket would fall into the Philippines.

Maybe, prayers of my countrymen were answered.

Le Grandeur

One of the hobbies that my sister and I doing together is eating out. We really love foods that sometimes we get stomach ache. Hahaha!! When there is a new restaurant open, expect that we will eat in that place.

As a matter of fact, we ate again in one of our favorite restaurants. It's name is Le Grandeur at Grand Men Seng hotel. It is very cheap that you can eat all snack foods including halo-halo at only P99 per head. However, this restaurant is open only during weekdays excluding holidays at 2pm to 5pm.

I can say that the food is pleasant and the waiters and waitresses are accommodating and friendly.

Easter Sunday

Yesterday, my friend and I celebrated the Easter Sunday. We just ate in a restaurant, took pictures, attended the mass and walked inside the two malls. I helped him choose sunglasses which he bought and wore it inside the mall. I was really laughing all the time because people tend to look at him. He looked like a celebrity even though we just used pedicab as a means of transportation. Hahaha..

However, this situation is opposite when I was young. I used to look for boiled eggs in our church. I could have four or five eggs and shared them with my sister or my friends. Now, I didn't see anybody looking for eggs.

Maybe, some things change as we grow old.

Leap year

Today is February 29 so called the leap year. It means an added day to the month of February which is supposed to be only 28 days. This kind of event occurs only every after four years so that the calendar days will be the same with seasonal or astronomical year.

There are many traditions during the leap year. In Denmark and Finland, there would be a compensation if the man refuse the woman's proposal on leap year. The man should buy 12 pairs of gloves and fabric for skirt on the latter. Moreover, in Greece it is considered unlucky for marriage.

Well,I am just lucky that my birthday falls on October 04. I have to celebrate it in normal days. But one thing I know today, I have to spend my Jolibee Tipid Card because today is the last day. (Hahaha!!!) See you in Jolibee outlet stores :-)

BDO Cash card

Today, my parents send me money or the company send me salary through BDO Cash card. What is a BDO Cash Card? BDO cash card is just like a reloadable card. It does not earn interest and has no maintaining balance unlike the savings account card. However, you can get money from the ATM machine.

There are three types of cash cards. The first one is the Retail Pre-Embossed cash card in which the card contains no name and the maximum balance that you could send in the card is P10, 000. You can get this card three working days after you applied. The second one is Retail Embossed cash card in which it contains the name of the owner with a maximum balance of P25,000 and can be get 14 working days from the day that you applied. The last one is the Corporate Embossed card in which you need a corporate ID because the sender can send you up to P100, 000.

In my case, I got the Retail Embossed card. I just presented one valid ID with photocopy and paid only P120. However, when applying and sending money you need to go the BDO bank in the morning because the system only works during that day. Moreover, the sending of money is free if you only send one cash reloading slip however if you have two cash reloading slips, you need to pay the other cash reloading slip.

Valentines Day

Tomorrow, everyone will be celebrating Valentines day. It will be a very important event for the lovers, friends and families. As expected, the prices of flowers will be increasing and restobars will have more income.

In Japan, there will be an opposite pattern. The girl will be the one who will give flower or chocolates to the boy. I used to remember my half-Japanese guy friend will have a lot of flowers and chocolates during this day.

Anyway, as we celebrate this event, let us not forget the true meaning of valentines day. It means sharing love and forgiving the so called "ex" if he did something wrong.

Tyrone's birthday bash

Yesterday, our family celebrated the 1st birthday of my youngest cousin King Tyrone. His name Tyrone is a combination of my aunt and uncle's name. It was held in Ladislawa Country Club. Dont be misled by the venue because our family is not rich. Hahaha. Furthermore, the party's motif was Barney and his friends.

Moreover the party was attended by his parent's family and friends. It started with games hosted by a clown wearing a yellow dress. I was fascinated by the clown because she was fluent in english and had the ability to make the children laugh. I wondered how she got her talent? Is it in the genes? The next was the serving of food. The foods were served by "handsome" waiters. I really wondered if physical appearance is an important asset of a waiter. The third part was the exhibition of a magician. My cousin got angry with me because I forgot my camera. According to her, the magician was a finalist in Pinoy Got Talent. I just shrugged my shoulder because I was not watching those shows. The last part was the dancing of Barney, my most favorite part. Hahaha.. I really love it because I love hugging mascots. I took a picture with Barney together with Tyrone and some of the children.

I could say that the party was successful because the audience were happy and satisfied. King Tyrone never cried. He just silently watched his party.

Well, I just wish that Tyrone will have good health and may the Lord put His hand on him. God bless Tyrone!

A picture with no smile

These past few days, I am completing my requirements in the company. One of the requirements that I should do was to give them a picture with no smile. I was really shocked because I was not used with it. All of my life, I have been smiling whenever I will the take the picture. I have a picture with no front teeth when I was about four or five years old. Hahahaha...

Moreover, I was thinking where would I post it wherein no friends would see it. Nevertheless, I decided it to post on my blog. However, as what they said "Looks can be deceiving". Hahahah... When you see me in person, I am a very simple girl. I dont even put face powder in my face or comb my hair. Some of my friends will tell me that I look like an old lady. There were times that the store keeper would not give what I want because she thought that I couldn't afford it. Hahahah...

The only reason why I look pretty in this picture because I am oblige to put face powder in my face, comb my hair and put some lip coloring.

Cheapest Hotels in Davao

Today, I am living in Davao because a company has accepted me in a job. I was really happy when I received the news but I left my key in my room which I had locked after I went out.

When I was walking at the mall, contemplating what would I do, I saw my auntie, uncle and youngest cousin. I was tempted to sleep in their house but I was really afraid that they would tell my mom. I just hugged my youngest cousin thinking it was an ordinary day. Actually, I have my first cousins, relatives and friends living in Davao but I was afraid that they would tell my mom. I was very sure that my mom would panic.

Nevertheless, I kept on texting my friends who did not know my parents. But they were busy conducting thesis and she had to sleep in her friend's house. So I just bought two books to read all night. I just spent reading a book in MTS from 8pm-12pm. After that, I went to MC Donald Ilustre to read again another book from 12:15pm-6am.

In the morning, I felt happy but tired. I missed the college days wherein I did not sleep conducting my thesis. Hahaha. Anyway, my friend just apologized to me because she forgot her cellphone in her friend's house so she just gave me the cheapest hotel in Davao. Here are the lists:

Megiko Dormitel @ P99 only
Rizal cor. Legaspi St., Davao City
Fronting Banco de Oro (BDO)

Green Windows Dormitel @ P188 only
FTC Tower
Mt. Apo St., Davao City
near Davao Doctors Hospital

Oroderm Hotel @ P200 only
Magallanes St., Davao City
Fronting PNB Bankerohan

I am planning to visit these hotels one of these days because if I left again my keys inside my room, I know now where to sleep without disturbing any person. Hahahha!!
